'My London Party’ began on September 10th 2005 when Nathan Cassidy had an idea to get London talking, and a dream to organise the biggest party London has ever seen.  He wanted to invite the whole of London to a picnic in Hyde Park on September 10th 2006, purely by word of mouth.

It started with a question - why don’t Londoners talk to each other? Why does it take a day of tragedy to bring Londoners together?

Starting with a friend, and then a friend of a fiend, invite cards were given out and people were inspired to spread the word. And people truly were inspired - from friends, to random people, to strangers. As the card says - people are only strangers because you haven’t said hello to them.

Through the year, everyone involved tried to make a big difference - to get London talking, to ask people to acknowledge their fellow man, and to realise the difference that can bring to both the community and themselves. That difference, were it to be made everywhere, could be the key to avoiding another tragic day.

To make the big difference the journey is long. But the first steps are small.
